A Message from the Artistic Director

Along with the rest of the world, our team has been struggling to make sense of the Covid-19 outbreak and its effects on all our lives. This was shaping up to be a record-breaking year for gritLIT, and it is heartbreakingly difficult to let go of the event we worked twelve months to build. Unfortunately, this pandemic presents too great a risk to our audiences, authors, volunteers and staff. After much deliberation and many tears, we have decided to cancel the 2020 gritLIT Festival.

We are committed to coming back stronger and better than ever when the outbreak has passed. There is a lot of uncertainty right now, but this too will pass. When it does, we will do everything in our power to reschedule some of our 2020 festival readings, discussions, workshops and special events.

If you have not yet done so, please add your name to our mail list below. We will keep you updated about any new developments and programming. For anyone who has already purchased tickets, we ask for your patience while we work through all possibilities. Over the next month, we will contact ticket holders directly with refund and postponement options.

We hope to see you all at a festival event soon. Until then, be safe and healthy. Keep reading, and if you read any amazing new books by Canadian authors, tell us about them. You never know when you might see those books and authors at gritLIT.
